B2.1 APIs for communication between Data Providers and Data Consumers/Users

The API will make use of a database containing the concepts most relevant to the Data Space, and its implementation will be based on international standards. The concepts will be selected based on the published state of the art and their use in similar health Data Space projects, and will also be compared with those being developed and promoted by international groups in the field of clinical information structuring, namely: HL7, openEHR, CDISC and OMOP. They will also be compared with initiatives related to the most widely recognised and used terminologies and classifications, namely: SNOMED, ICD, CPT and LOINC. All this meta-information will be used as a basis for semantic harmonisation between data providers and data consumers. The use of ontologies in mapping between the data made available by different data providers should also be considered. At the same time, an engine capable of applying predefined and frequent data transformations should be implemented.
